This week was especially huge in entertainment, and we got a lot of new trailers, sneak peeks, and confirmations of projects. Let’s get to it.

Ohmigod, ohmigod you guys!

Shockingly enough, I have Valentine’s Day plans in 2020. Don’t get too excited, because it will most definitely be me alone in a theater screaming and rooting for all things girl power watching Legally Blonde 3. I can’t even explain in words how excited I am for this movie. This week, we got confirmation for three things: the threequel is happening, that Reese Witherspoon will be in it, and a release date. What a world. Earlier in the day yesterday, Reese Witherspoon herself confirmed the movie with an adorable video on her Twitter account in the style of an iconic scene from the movie. I’m going to bet anything it’s going to be better than its sequel. We don’t talk about Legally Blonde 2 OR Legally Blondes.

We CAN believe.

So weird, apparently I’m ALREADY sick on June 15 and can’t come into work that day. The trailer for season two of Queer Eye, streaming on Netflix next Friday, dropped this week. I really appreciate that the trailer calls us all best friends. We see super sweet moments, from a proposal to JVN getting spanked to sweet baby Antoni crying and getting emotional. For the first time, a lady is going to get a makeover too! This show is perfect, and I am HERE for the messages of positivity, accepting who you are, and overall pure joy. The guys also landed in Australia this week and are apparently filming an episode of Yass, Australia. Omg. The only way I see this going is that the entire town is going to get a Bobby makeover while Antoni shows everyone how to cut an avocado in half, right?

This week in movie trailers.

Holy sh*t, apparently the first week in June is THE week to release your trailer, and we’ve got some good ones.

I’ve watched this video at least once an hour since it came out. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is coming to theaters in December, and the trailer is S T U N N I N G. We have action, we have Spider-Gwen, and we have Miles’ adorable dad—already my favorite character. Read more about it here!

We got the first official trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck It Ralph 2, and our two favorite video game characters return to venture into the internet. The inside of the internet probably looks exactly how it does in this movie, with actual birds tweeting and aggressive autofill. “This is the most beautiful miracle I’ve ever seen,” is also what I say every time I eat boneless wings.

I need to take some time here to point out how self-aware Disney is being here. Yes, we’re getting all of the Disney princesses in one place for the first time—and yes, I’m so stoked for it—but this also was a great opportunity for Disney to point the flaws in its past princess movies: The man always comes in to save the damsel in distress! Good job, guys, that was very meta.

Everything is not awesome in Bricksburg. If you know anything about me, you know that The LEGO Movie is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I’ve been waiting for the February release of this movie since forever. The first teaser trailer for the movie was released this week and it looks like we’re getting ~*~intergalactic~*~ for this one. Reprising their from The LEGO Movie are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, respectively, new characters Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Sweet Mayhem, and Ice Cream Cone. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman, and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical.

First of all, where have I been? This wasn’t even my radar, but now everyone is freaking out, including yours truly. A Star Is Born got its first official trailer and Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga acting together are everything. Warner Bros. describes the film as a new take on a tragic love story as both leads play musicians. This is Lady Gaga’s first time leading in a feature film, and I think she is on her way for another Oscar nod to be halfway to an EGOT. This looks incredible.

Transformers movies are like Pirates of the Caribbean films: Nobody asks for them, but they keep on coming. But, I will say that Bumblebee is totally giving me The Iron Giant vibes and I’m OK with this. John Cena, National Treasure, is also in the franchise spinoff.

We’re getting THREE Ariana collabs.

Ariana Grande confirmed on Twitter that she’s working on new music and collaborating with Pharrell, Nicki Minaj, and Missy Elliot. Slay queen.

Actual trash: Ladies are underpaid, apparently, everywhere.

Forbes released its top 100 list of the world’s highest-paid athletes, and no women are on the list. I’m disappointed, but not surprised because the gender pay gap is especially apparent in sports. Kind of like how the U.S. women’s national team is more successful then the men (They won their last World Cup, while the men’s team failed to even qualify for 2018’s World Cup, for example), but are still paid severely less than the men. Apparently, only three women have made it on the list since 2010. Sports, you need to do better.

The In The Heights musical movie has a release date.

Warner Bros. set a release date for the film adaptation of In the Heights for June 26, 2020. The company just acquired the rights for the movie last month after it was previously in development at The Weinstein Co., which for obvious reasons is not moving forward anymore. This musical put Lin Manuel-Miranda on the map, and we’re eagerly awaiting its release!

We’re also getting a Dear David movie.

If you follow popular comic Adam Ellis, formerly from BuzzFeed, then you may be familar with the ongoing ~super spooky~ haunting in his apartment from a child ghost called David. I suggest you check out the entire tweet thread here. There’s a ton of speculation whether this story and evidence is real or not, but either way, it’s a really suspenseful and rollercoaster read to escape. It’s so good that it will actually turn into a movie from It and The Crooked Man alums.

We see a beautiful friendship blooming.

Dwayne Johnson and the SpongeBob Twitter account had the purest interaction this week. I don’t know what’s better—that The Rock called him Bob, or all of the nicknames he refers himself to.

Until next time, my beautiful trash babies!
