NYCC: Funko Reveals Virtual Convention Plans, Exclusives

With mere days to go before New York Comic Con (NYCC) kicks off, the Funko team — who will not be attending the show in person this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic — has revealed plans for the company’s virtual NYCC offerings.

Funko’s Virtual Con NYCC 2021 will officially take place on Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. PT with a variety of shared exclusives. However, unlike its previous virtual conventions, Funko will not be holding a lottery and will instead open its full NYCC lineup to the public at the same time.

To help handle the website traffic, Funko will be utilizing a waiting room feature and limiting each shopper to one of each item. According to a full blog post about the virtual convention, the company has also invested in a variety of blockers and programs to prevent bots from purchasing the exclusives. However, with very limited quantities, this merch is still sure to go fast.

In addition to sharing the purchase details, Funko has shared closer looks at the collectibles that will be up for grabs on Thursday. The reveals include a Venom: Let There Be Carnage Pop! figure, a glow-in-the-dark Polaris (X-Men) Pop! figure, and a Rocket Racoon Soda figure inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
