We’re coin-stantly looking for ways to expand our fandom collections, and for fans of Yu-Gi-Oh!, these collectible anniversary coins just makes cents.
APMEX, the nation’s largest online retailer of precious metals, and Konami Cross Media NY have joined together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Yu-Gi-Oh! by releasing a series of collectible gold and silver coins inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.
The collab includes a variety of 1-ounce coins that feature main character Yami Yugi, along with other fan-favorite characters and monsters from the series, which kicked off the larger Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
One of the collectible coins is a 25th-anniversary game flip coin that is available in silver, antiqued silver, and gold variations. Each of these precious metal coins features Yami Yugi’s profile on one side with “25th anniversary,” “Yu-Gi-Oh!,” and “game flip coin” printed around it. The other side of the coin has Yami Yugi’s catchphrase, “It’s time to duel,” as well as the Niue coat of arms and the weight, purity, metal content, and denomination of the coin.
The silver version of the flip coin is available on its own for $27.19 or packaged in a TEP-RF-welded, plastic polymer case for $30.69 to protect the coin’s finish and make the piece more displayable. The gold ($2,101.90) and antiqued silver ($79.99) versions each come in a gift tin and include a certificate of authenticity. APMEX will mint 25,000 of the 1-ounce silver coins, 525 of the silver antiqued coins, and only 125 of the gold coins.
Additionally, APMEX minted limited-edition, 1-ounce colorized coins featuring Dark Magician, Yami Yugi, Red-Eyes Black Dragon, and Joey Wheeler. These styles were limited to just 250 coins each, and sold out almost immediately. However, fans can sign up for in-stock alerts for some of these coins!
