Netflix is teaming up with Anima, Sublimation, and David Production to stream new original anime series.

Altered Carbon: Resleeved, from Anima, is already set to join the Netflix library. The series is adapted from the streaming service’s original live-action, sci-fi show, which launched in February 2018. The second season is in production.

The Capcom video-game-turned-original-series Dragon’s Dogma, from Netflix and Sublimation, will also join the platform, along with the manga-adapted Spriggan, from Netflix and David Production.

The upcoming anime lineup will join two new Netflix Originals planned with Production I.G and Bones Inc. in 2018. Production I.G’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 and Wit Studio’s Vampire in the Garden will premiere in 2020. Bones will produce Supercrooks, which is based on the comic by Mark Millar and artist Leinil Francis Yu.

News of the new series aligns with Netflix’s push to boost the quality of its anime library by working with the top creators in the game.

“Netflix aims to be the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators, and production studios. We are creating an environment where production houses can do their best work and deliver their shows on a service where we connect anime fans from over 190 countries to content they love,” Netflix Director of Content Japan John Derderian says in a statement.

With Netflix’s track record of hit and miss original series, bringing in the big guns could be exactly what the service needs to curate the best anime and gain the fans.
