Tokidoki is jumping from the shelf to TV with a new Atomic Cartoons-produced animated series based on the Mermicorno characters.

Tokidoki co-founder and chief creative officer Simone Legno and co-founder and CEO Pooneh Mohajer will executive produce the show with Thunderbird Entertainment Group’s CEO Jennifer Twiner McCarron and Atomic Cartoons’ VP of Originals Matthew Berkowitz.

Legno created the comedy-adventure series, and Shea Fontana (DC Super Hero Girls, Polly Pocket) is writing and developing it. Fontana will also act as an executive producer and showrunner.

“We have always known the Tokidoki universe was destined to come to life via animation and are particularly proud that our first foray is developing the Mermicornos series in partnership with this exceptionally talented team,” Mohajer says in a statement.

In the series, a team of Mermicornos will set out to bring peace to the sea as they try to stop an evil villain from taking over the world.

This is Tokidoki’s latest major partnership, following several notable ones, including Marvel, Hello Kitty, Blizzard’s Overwatch, Major League Baseball, LeSportsac, Karl Lagerfeld, Charles Schulz, and Street Fighter.

The animated series will be Atomic Cartoons’ most recent project. Atomic is working with author Max Brallier to produce an animated series based on his book series The Last Kids on Earth. The studio is also partnering with actress Drew Barrymore and Today Show host Savannah Guthrie to develop an animated series based on Guthrie’s book Princesses Wear Pants.
