Barbie has been a reigning style icon for more than half a century, but the classic doll is going full high-end fashion for her latest collab.
On Jan. 13, French luxury fashion brand Balmain will release a ready-to-wear fashion and accessories collection. The collection will include more than 50 pieces, all combining Barbie imagery (such as the ’90s-era logo and elements from Barbie’s packaging) with signature Balmain designs, including its marinière and labyrinth patterns. Items in this collection range from a tracksuit and bold earrings to a micro bag. Of course, there is also plenty of pink.
However, this collab doesn’t end with real-life accessories and apparel. Balmain and Barbie are also partnering for Barbie’s first foray into the Metaverse. Starting on Jan. 11, there will be three Barbie x Balmain NFTs up for auction via the Mattel Creations platform. Each digital collectible features a Barbie doll wearing items from the upcoming Balmain collection.
Fans can preview the NFTs now at nft.mattelcreations.com. The apparel and accessories collection will be available at Balmain stores, balmain.com, Mattel Creations, and other worldwide retail partners.
