** This post contains multiple spoilers for Captain Marvel so don’t keep reading unless you are really, really sure you want to **

Captain Marvel may be set in the ’90s, but there is one scene that takes place a few decades later — the end credits. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking post-Thanos, post-Decimation, with Cap and Nat depressed in Bruce’s lab trying to figure out how to save the already destroyed world. I’m talking new Avengers footage, people!

To be clear, there’s no MCU-shattering news revealed, but the scene finally officially confirms what we all knew was coming: Captain Marvel meets the Avengers.

The scene opens on the pager Fury uses to call Captain Marvel in the Infinity War end credits scene, hooked up to machines in the lab featured in the Endgame trailers. Then the pager *gasp* flickers out.

Captain America, Black Widow, War Machine and Bruce Banner are all there, discussing the pager and the fact that it has stopped working: What is it anyway? Fury had it, so it must be important. (And so on.)

THEN, she arrives — Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers herself. Face-to-face with some of the OG Avengers (who, *spoiler alert* she inspired the team name for). “Where’s Fury?” she asks, before the screen turns to black, then shows a message assuring us that Captain Marvel will return for Avengers: Endgame.

Again, we kinda already knew this was coming. BUT I for one didn’t expect to see this meeting actually happen until next month as part of Endgame.

The prospect of Captain Marvel facing Thanos is even more interesting now that *another spoiler alert* we know her power comes from the Tesseract, aka the Space Stone.

So there we go, folks — finally some new fodder to fuel the rampant Endgame fan theories!
