This weekend’s D23 Expo was packed with news and reveals from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and more.

So much news came out of the Anaheim Convention Center that it may be hard to keep track. So, in addition to recapping the Parks update, all the The Rise of Skywalker news, and Friday’s wild Disney+ panel (Six new titles. SIX!), we’ve rounded up some of the other can’t-miss announcements from this year’s expo.

The MCU adds another Stark.

Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington is officially joining the cast of Marvel’s The Eternals movie as non-Eternal Dane Whitman (aka Black Knight). This role will reunite Harington with Richard Madden, who played his brother/cousin Robb Stark on GoT and is set to play the Eternal Ikaris in the new film.

Kevin Feige also announced two more Eternals to round out the cast: Gemma Chan as Sersi and Barry Keoghan as Druid.

Wakanda Forever!

A second Black Panther film with Ryan Coogler at the helm has been rumored for a while, but Marvel left it out of last month’s Phase 4 reveal lineup at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC). At D23 Expo, Feige confirmed that the film is happening and will debut on May 6, 2022.

It’s Marvel’s party, and we’re all invited.

Marvel Comics is celebrating 80 years, and it had a full panel at D23 Expo dedicated to the milestone. At the panel, Marvel announced “Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics No. 1000,” a collaboration with SiriusXM and Pandora. It will be a new, exclusive music station and limited-time channel that will launch on this Thursday, Aug. 29.

The playlist, hosted by Mike Rubens, will take listeners through eight decades of music, starting in 1939.

The company also announced Incoming, a one-shot that will kick off some of Marvel’s biggest events in 2020. It will debut this December.

If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will.

Fans got their first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in the live-action film Cruella, which is scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2021.

Heart and Soul

Pixar Animation Studios announced the main voice cast for Soul, its upcoming movie that takes place in “The You Seminar,” a place where we all discover our unique personalities. The cast includes Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, Tina Fey, and Jamie Foxx. Foxx will play Joe, a middle-school band teacher with a passion for playing jazz, while Fey plays 22, a soul-in-training who encounters Joe.

News worth melting for.

Walt Disney Animation confirmed two new voice actors for Frozen 2, which debuts in theaters on Nov. 22: Evan Rachel Wood, who voices Anna and Elsa’s mother, Queen Iduna, and Sterling K. Brown, who voices Lieutenant Destin Mattias.

The studio also revealed a new poster for the movie.

The end of an era.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its seventh and final season next year, and a teaser for this “blast in the past” season dropped this weekend at D23Expo.
