According to Variety, Hulu and Marvel have partnered to produce four adult animated series based on four Marvel characters: Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, and Tigra and Dazzler. The characters will then team up in an animated special titled “The Offenders.”
The move makes sense as Disney (Marvel’s parent company) will become a major Hulu shareholder following the Fox-Disney merger. Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of TV, will executive produce all the projects.
Howard the Duck’s series will follow Howard as he is trapped in a different world and tries to return home before the evil Dr. Bong gets him. Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will write and executive produce the series.
M.O.D.O.K.—Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing—centers around a supervillian with a very large head and very small body, who has trouble keeping control of his evil organization. Jordan Plum and Patton Oswalt will write and executive produce the series.
Hit-Monkey tells the story of a wronged Japanese snow monkey in the Tokyo underworld who is mentored by the ghost of an American assassin. Josh Gordon and will Speck will write and executive produce the series.
Finally, Tigra & Dazzler will be written and executive produced by Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler.
There is no release date yet for these shows.
