While a recent rumor seemed to indicate that Marvel could be working on a Doctor Strange 2 with Benedict Cumberbatch set to return, there’s even more evidence that a sequel is happening.
Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange, tweeted some images that could hint that something could be in the works. Over the weekend, Derrickson posted images from the Doctor Strange comics, making it look like he has ideas for a sequel. While Marvel hasn’t made any official announcements, Derrickson’s latest tweet shows images from the comics of Steve Ditko with the caption, “Narrow is the Way.”

Derrickson previously tweeted other images from the comics, which have us wondering if this could potentially tease the film’s sequel or potential storylines.

Reports from last month said that Cumberbatch would receive a large salary increase to reprise his role as the Sorcerer Supreme. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously told CinemaBlend that the challenge with making a Doctor Strange sequel was the amount of characters the premise focused on.
“Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange [movie], which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War,” Feige told CinemaBlend. “So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”
Doctor Strange 2 is rumored to begin production in 2019.
