Marvel New Media and podcast listening service Stitcher announced that they will launch a fictional Marvel podcast series this fall. The 10-episode series will be available exclusively on Stitcher Premium until next year, when it will see a wide release across all podcast platforms.
The series coincides with the 25th anniversary of Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross’ four-part comic book Marvels, first released in 1994. The new podcast is based on Marvels, revisiting the story of photojournalist Phil Sheldon as he navigates through the chaos caused by the Galactus invasion of New York City and explores what it means to be human in a universe inhabited by superheroes.
The Marvels podcast takes place in the aftermath of the Fantastic Four’s battle with Galactus in New York City. One intrepid photographer, an ambitious college student, and a cynical journalist investigate one of the most super-powered conspiracy theories of all time.
The podcast features Clifford “Method Man” Smith as Ben Urich, AnnaSophia Robb as Marcia Hardesty, Ethan Peck as Mr. Fantastic, Seth Barrish as Phil Sheldon, Louisa Krause as Sue Storm, Jake Hart as Ben Grimm, Ehad Berisha as Johnny Storm, Teo Rapp-Olsson as Peter Parker, and Gabriela Ortega as Charlie Martinez.
Marvels is written by Lauren Shippen and directed by Paul Bae. Mischa Stanton will oversee sound design. Harry Go and Jennifer Manel of Marvel and T. Square of Stitcher will produce the series.
