The Ringer, a website known for their buzzworthy Twitter after parties and TV recap podcasts, will follow up their #TalkTheThrones talkback with a new aftershow to discuss the anticipated second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies.
The site plans on using their #TalkTheThrones format with their new post-show series dedicated to the popular HBO series based on a book of the same name and starring Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz.
“Television superfans live on Twitter which makes it the perfect place for The Ringer’s post-show series,” Kay Madati, Global VP and Head of Content Partnerships at Twitter, said in a statement. “Now, they’ll be able to continue the conversation with more Game of Thrones and Big Little Lies content on Twitter, and there is no one better than The Ringer to bring their expert analysis and insights to the dialogue right after the programs end and the discussion heats up.”
The Ringer’s #TalkTheThrones aftershow provides their team the opportunity to use their obsessions with GoT to share their expertise on the series, continuing with this spring’s final season.
“Likewise, Big Little Lies, deserves an enthusiastic and expert analysis of its own,” Bill Simmons of The Ringer’s parent company, Bill Simmons Media Group, said in a statement. “We’re excited to cover the show’s dramatic highs and lows every week on Twitter, the perfect platform to break down these two shows.”
The second season, which does not yet have an official release date, welcomes Meryl Streep as Kidman’s mother-in-law. HBO gave fans a first look at the new season during the Golden Globes commercial for the network, which featured Streep’s character questioning her son Perry’s death, the women in a police lineup (still clad in their Audrey Hepburn ensembles), and plenty of dramatic looks.
