Disney will connect the storylines of Marvel Universe’s movies and shows within its Disney+ streaming service.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that upcoming Disney+ shows will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These include Marvel Studio’s upcoming live-action Loki series, Vision and Scarlet Witch show, and Falcon and Winter Soldier show.
“These will be Marvel Studios productions,” Feige tells ComicBook.com. “They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.”
The announcement is a major jump from the production of previous Marvel series, which are spread across random channels and streaming services and seem to exist in separate worlds.
Marvel Television and Marvel Studios have generally given up on connecting the series, including Agents of SHIELD and Inhuman on ABC, Defenders on Netflix, and Runaways on Hulu, with their blockbuster counterparts.
Legion on FX is one notable attempt to link the universes. The X-Men series has made references to Professor Charles Xavier in the past and has included a shot of his iconic wheelchair in an episode. However, the X-Men founder, played by actor Harry Lloyd, will appear in the third and final season.
Fans will have to wait for the anticipated link-up. Disney’s streaming service is slated to drop later this year, according to Cnet. The studio also hasn’t announced a release date for the god of mischief’s series starring Tom Hiddleston.
