Two years ago, Dan Scanlon (Monsters University) took to the stage at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, to show off a tiny glimpse at what was literally displayed on-screen as The Untitled Pixar Film that Takes You to A Suburban Fantasy World. (At the time, there was no title, so that’s what they called it.) Now, that film has a title, and the first teaser trailer for Disney•Pixar’s Onward has arrived.

What hooked me during Scanlon’s D23 presentation is that his fantasy world is a society inhabited by the characters and creatures of legends, and unicorns are treated as trash pandas, eating garbage like raccoons. Fortunately, those unicorns are now available for all to see and enjoy.

The story is set in a world with no humans — only elves, trolls, and sprites — “anything that would be on the side of a van in the ’70s,” Scanlon said in 2017. “In the film, we’re going to tell the story of two teenage elf brothers whose father died when they were too young to remember him. But thanks to the little magic still left in the world, the boys embark on a quest that will allow them a chance to spend one last magical day with their father.”

Featuring Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) as the voice of Ian Lightfoot, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) as the voice of Ian’s older brother, Barley, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Mom, Disney•Pixar’s Onward hits theaters next year on March 6.
