The Trekverse is growing!

CBS Television Studios created an entire global franchise group dedicated to expanding the reach of Star Trek as a brand, beyond linear broadcasting and streaming.

Basically, this means existing Star Trek fans can look forward to tons of new content, and those who may not be so familiar with the sci-fi classic will have plenty of new jumping-in points to explore.

In addition to the recently announced animated Trek series on Nickelodeon and the Section 31 spin-off series starring Michelle Yeoh, fans can look forward to:

  • Star Trek: Short Treks, a series of short stories tied to Star Trek: Discovery and the overall “Star Trek” universe;
  • An untitled “Star Trek” series featuring Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard; and
  • Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated series from Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty), targeted at mature audiences.

With the exception of the new Nickelodeon show, these series are all part of CBS’ streaming service, CBS All Access, in the U.S.

The new Star Trek branding team, led by Veronica Hart, plans to expand on this new content with podcasts, the redesigned, new consumer products, gaming, live experiential events, and global attractions.
