The second trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped today, and there’s so much to unpack.

The animated movie follows Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), a high schooler from Brooklyn who is adjusting to life as Spider-Man. In the first trailer released in June, we saw Miles meet an older Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), who offers to train him.

The second trailer offers a bit more in the way of plot, introducing a Super-Collider that connects universes and allows spider-people from different dimensions to meet. But the collider is causing trouble, with the potential to destroy Brooklyn and trap all of the spider-people in the same universe.

We got a short glimpse of Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) at the end of the teaser trailer, but she interacts more with Morales and Parker in the new trailer. We’re also introduced to talking pig Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), anime-styled Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn), and the hilarious dynamic of five spider-people in the same room.

The trailer is full of plenty of meta-jokes and iconic Spider-Man moments too, including a jab at those Spider-Man ice cream bars we all ate as kids and a shot of that famous Peter Parker/Mary Jane upside-down kiss.

The movie, created by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is set for release December 14.
