The second trailer for Pet Sematary dropped today if you’re looking to spook up your Thursday with dead kids wearing animal masks lurking around the woods in the dark.
Based on the Stephen King novel from 1983, Pet Sematary follows the story of Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) as he moves from Boston to rural Maine with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young kids. The family discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), unleashing a chain of horrific events. The book was first adapted into a film in 1989.
The latest trailer shows Louis’s daughter stumbling upon the pet cemetery, as well as Louis discovering carvings on the trees surrounding their house. It is revealed that the cemetery has the power to bring the dead back to life, which comes in handy when one of the family members is killed. The dead can come back, but as the tagline says, they don’t come back the same.
Pet Semetary is directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer with a screenplay written by Jeff Buhler. It hits theaters on April 5. Watch the trailer below.
