Calling all Funko fanatics!

The world is starting to re-open, and Funko is gearing up to reenter the live event space. The Pop Insider, along with our sister publication, the Toy Book, can exclusively reveal that the much-anticipated Funko Summer Virtual Con is going hybrid to take a “best of both worlds” approach. FunKon is a three-day in-person and virtual event that will take place at Funko Hollywood, the company’s 40,000 square-foot retail destination in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world.

“The past year proved that virtual experiences can resonate with our fans as much as in-person events,” says Funko CEO Brian Mariotti. “As California begins to lift in-person event restrictions, FunKon brings us all together at our world-class Hollywood store to experience best in class entertainment and pop culture — virtually and in-person.”

FunKon is set to take place August 4-7, 2021, and will feature celebrity appearances, behind-the-scenes content, giveaways, and yes — plenty of exclusive merch and new product reveals from Funko and Loungefly.

Funko plans to kick off the event with the debut of Pops! With Purpose, a new philanthropic effort that taps into one of the company’s core tenets: giving back. A short documentary, The Making of Funko Hollywood, will debut amid a host of new video content, including interviews with Funko team members, artists, and more. Additionally, FunKon is bringing back Fundays as a virtual event in which fans can participate in team competitions across a variety of challenges.

Fans and collectors from around the world can tune into the virtual event while those based in the U.S. can register to attend FunKon in-person at Funko Hollywood. Full details on how to register will be shared on the Funko blog.
