Do you hear Simple and Clean in the distance?

Yeah, that’s no mistake. Final Fantasy is returning (in literary form) with new Final Fantasy XIV book editions, courtesy of Square Enix! The iconic RPG legacy is getting the deluxe treatment with two 300-page encyclopedic volumes, offering fans a deep dive into the lore of Eorzea. In addition, fans will be able to pay visual tribute to the 14th Final Fantasy with poster and picture books.

Written and compiled by the game’s development team, Encyclopaedia Eorzea: The World of Final Fantasy XIV takes fans through the locales, organizations, and mysticism of Eorzea. This full-color book also includes a bonus item code for the in-game Namingway minion. The second volume of Encyclopaedia Eorzea builds upon the lore detailed in the preceding volume, including new information about Eorzea’s language and lands in a new continent to the east. Fans will also be able to snag a bonus item code for the in-game Matoya’s Hat headgear. The encyclopedia volumes cost $49.99 each and are scheduled for release next year, on April 12.

The Final Fantasy XIV Poster Collection carries 27 full-color illustrations. This 11-by-14-inch book features character artwork from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and more, depicting fan-favorites such as Alphinaud, Alisaie, Elidibus, and G’raha. The Final Fantasy XIV Picture Book is written by the game’s online lead story designer, Banri Oda, and illustrated by its online concept artist, Hiroyuki Nagamine. This whimsical book adds a softer edge to the Final Fantasy XIV literary collection with a cute, 24-page story about a Namazu — stemming from a race of catfish-like beastmen in the game — and its quest to make it rain.

The poster and picture books are priced at $29.99 and $14.99 respectively, with release dates of May 10 and July 26 2022. Fans can preorder the encyclopedic volumes and join the waiting list for the poster and picture books now at the Square Enix Store site. Preorders for the poster book will begin on Aug. 10, while the picture book preorders will open on Oct. 26.
