Funko may be best known for its Pop! vinyl figures, but that isn’t the only collectible line in its repertoire. Funko has previously launched 3-inch Dorbz figures, Funko 5 Star figures, Vinyl Soda collectibles, and more.
According to an exclusive story from Complex that Funko shared on its official Twitter feed this morning, there is another collectibles line on the way later this year. Called “Gold,” this line will feature collectible vinyl figures of iconic musicians and star athletes from the NFL and the NBA.
Complex also shared some first-look concept art for the line, which will apparently include styles available as 5-inch figures ($9.99) and 12-inch figures ($24.99). The initial designs include Notorious B.I.G. (pictured top) on the music side; LeBron James, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, and Kawhi Leonard from the NBA; and Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Baker Mayfield from the NFL.
Based on the concept art, it looks like these figures will be styled with angular features, detailed hair sculpts, and — in the case of the sports figures — larger feet and hands.
The first wave of this new line is expected to drop later this year at major retailers and funko.com.
