… Even the fictional, fantasy past where HBO’s Game of Thrones is set.
Chances are that whether or not you’re a dedicated GoT fan, you’ve heard about last night’s Starbucks snafu.
The survivors of the battle of Winterfell were in the middle of a celebratory feast when, lo and behold, a modern, overpriced cup of Joe stole the show: A lone Starbucks to-go cup sits among the platters of food and goblets of wines.

Almost every show has a continuity problem at some point, but when you have literal years to perfect a season, it’s tough to see how a mistake like this made it past all the products, editors, and actors, leaving some fans to wonder just how authentic the “mistake” really was.
Enjoy alll the Twitter reactions, Thronies!

How could it be that nobody noticed! Not the actors, not the cinematographers, not the editors??? And now this is trending. I’m sceptical. What a great ad for Starbucks! #Starbucks

Imagine HBO spending millions on every single episode and being done over by a single coffee cup. Guess Dany didn’t get the memo about reusable chalices #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/YpBtsCTpjY

TFW you've spent eight seasons introducing yourself and they still write "Denise" on your cup at Starbucks pic.twitter.com/3zrkrNOlui

UPDATE: HBO released a statement Monday afternoon addressing the case of the mysterious coffee cup:
“In response to inquiries from those who a craft services coffee cup in Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones, HBO states, ‘The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.'”
Guess it wasn’t good ole’ Sbux, after all.
