Earlier this month, a new charitable initiative called Give Comics Hope launched to help raise funds to provide aid for local comic book shops that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Created by Bill Schanes, former vice president of purchasing at Diamond Comic Distributors and co-founder of Pacific Comics, the organization is launching two upcoming auctions designed to raise funds that will be distributed to comic book shops early next year.

At this time, Give Comics Hope is calling on creators, retailers, fans, and the entire fandom community to donate art and collectibles (and to attend the events).

Heritage Auctions will conduct the first auction from Oct. 28-Nov. 11. The initial auction will include items such as cover art from The Walking Dead donated by Image Comics partner Robert Kirkman, Star Wars original art by award-winning artist P. Craig Russell, and original art from New Mutants No. 88 by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld. Public donations to this auction are due by Oct. 2.

Jesse James Comics/Comic Book Shopping Network will partner with eBay for the second auction, which will run as public auctions and “Buy It Now” opportunities on eBay from Nov. 11-Dec. 11. Public donations for this auction are due by Nov. 4.
