Did we all just drink Felix Felicis? Because we’re feeling pretty lucky.
After a yearlong delay, the Harry Potter New York store will finally open its doors on June 3. It features three floors and 15 different themed areas, each one thoughtfully designed to bring fans an immersive Wizarding World experience.
Fans will have to tap the correct brick on a New York City street in order to find the store… Okay, not really — but maybe the next one, Warner Bros? The flagship store is actually in the heart of the city, located right next to the Flatiron Building. It can easily be found by its Harry Potter-themed exterior, complete with a dragon guarding the entrance.
On the inside, fans will be greeted by a huge Fawkes the Phoenix, gazing down at them from the ceiling. It was designed by a team of specialist prop makers specifically for the store and weighs more than 220 pounds. It’s one of many painstakingly detailed, handmade props throughout the shop.
There’s no shortage of photo opportunities inside, either. Fans can step into Hagrid’s boots and pose inside a London phone box before transporting themselves to the Ministry of Magic. Then, they can put their magic to the test with an interactive wand table.
Download the Harry Potter Fan Club app for an extra surprise: Those with the app can find a number of Enchanted Keys throughout the store that unlock exclusive, behind-the-scenes facts, figures, and videos. The virtual reality experiences “Chaos at Hogwarts” and “Wizards Take Flight” will also be available later in the summer.
It goes without saying that you will need to gather your Galleons before heading to the store. Fans will have access to exclusive Harry Potter merch and collectibles, including a Golden Snitch wand and everything else your muggle heart could desire. Keep track of all you’re going to buy here!
