It’s TFW when a comic book gets adapted into a movie or TV show and drastically deviates from the original story. When we heard Watchmen was getting it’s own series on HBO, we were a little nervous how it would be portrayed on TV.
Luckily, things are looking up. While the show will not be a direct adaptation, it may still be the Watchmen we’ve always dreamed of (you guys dream about comics, right? or is that just me?).
The Watchmen series has received a working title of Brooklyn, according to Production Weekly. This is pretty on point, considering the events of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal 1986 miniseries take place primarily in NYC.
Created by Moore and Gibbons, Watchmen is the story in which superheroes first emerged in the 1940s, drastically altering the course of history over the subsequent decades. Watchmen was adapted into a movie in 2009 and has been featured into the DC Comics continuity in Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s Doomsday Clock.
