During an interview on the UK’s This Morning talk show earlier today, the X-Men actor was presented with a certificate from Guinness World Records, certifying his impressive Marvel career as Wolverine.

The surprise presentation gave The Greatest Showman leading man the honor for the longest career as a live-action Marvel hero, presented by Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday.

Hugh Jackman shares the record with fellow X-Men star Patrick Stewart, who has also held the honor for 16 years and 228 days as of March 2017. Stewart and Jackman both first appeared as heroes in 2000’s X-Men up through Logan in 2017.

The surprise honor will be featured in Guinness World Records 2020.

“When I did make my surprise entrance, you could see that Hugh was genuinely thrilled to hear the news and receive the certificate,” Glenday says in a statement. “I’d read a few years ago that he and his brother were big fans of the book when growing up, so I knew he’d be excited to find out that he’ll be appearing in the 2020 edition.”
