On July 4, the most famous residents of Hawkins, Indiana, will be sporting some rad new rides.
As Independence Day kicks in, many will be ditching the fireworks to binge on season three of the Netflix original series Stranger Things, and this time around we’ll all be seeing some period-specific bikes created by Mongoose — including a character-specific model for Maxine “Max” Mayfield (portrayed by actress Sadie Sink).
To create the bikes for the new season, the Mongoose team in Madison, Wisconsin, sourced period-specific bike parts from local thrift stores and garage sales, assembling the Frankenstein’d bikes used for filming. Following the bikes’ shipment to the production team, Mongoose switched gears and began working on a replica of Max’s bike for the rest of us to enjoy.
Mongoose Max Stranger Things Bike Features

- Classic Mongoose pad set

The Mongoose Max bike will retail for $219.99, exclusively at Target stores and Target.com beginning on June 30.
Dorel Industries, the parent company of Mongoose, is all about creating two-wheeled rides for outrunning the Demogorgons. Through its Schwinn division, the company previously produced bikes based on those ridden by Mike and Lucas.
