There’s power in the gaming community and Leyline, a new nonprofit dedicated to combining gaming and technology with charitable works, knows it.
Participants just need a PC or mobile device to get started. For those with gaming computers, Leyline uses your device’s spare processing power to help support scientific research by crunching data, running massive calculations, and conduct complex models and simulations. All you have to do is leave Leyline running in the background, whether you’re gaming or sleeping. Players can even choose from a variety of causes they wish to support, from COVID relief to climate change.
Soon, Leyline users will also be able to log in-person charitable contributions on the platform, too, such as volunteering or giving blood.
Then, for every contribution made, participants can earn points in the Leyline Marketplace. Players can exchange those points for gift cards, digital codes, or in-game items. The more you give, the more you get in return! Check out the video below to see how it works.
Jeremy Dela Rosa, formerly at Blizzard Entertainment, founded Lyline because he wanted to make giving back easy and fun in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
“We have always been passionate about trying to make a big, positive impact in the world,” Dela Rosa said in a press release. “We realize that everyone wants to contribute to making the world a better place, but it can be needlessly complex. Through Leyline, we want to create an online ecosystem that rewards doing good things in the real world.”
