Daniel Craig may soon be dethroned as James Bond, this time by Scottish actor Richard Madden. And yes, that’s the same Richard Madden that played Robb Stark, the noble King in the North in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones.
There were rumors of Craig’s replacement swirling around since September, when Henry Cavill’s name was thrown into the headlines. And earlier this month, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli confirmed to fans that the Bond character will continue to be a male.
Today, there’s another rumor floating around: that Broccoli is gearing up to cast Madden as the new Bond. We’ll take this with a grain of salt though, since Bond rumors haven’t always been the most concrete.
Madden’ schedule has been filled up since appearing on Game of Thrones. He played Cosimo de’ Medici in the historical drama Medici: Masters of Florence, Leo West in the Netflix romantic comedy Ibiza; and he will play music manager John Reid in the forthcoming Elton John biopic, Rocketman.
While the prospect of a female Bond is doubtful, there’s optimism that the next Bond will be a good one, with including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Cavill, and now Madden in the running for the role.
