Ninja (real name Richard Tyler Blevins) may have risen to esports fame as one of the top Twitch streamers of all time, but the popular gamer officially cut ties with the platform.

Yesterday, via a tweet and video on his YouTube channel, Blevins announced that he will move all of his streaming content to Microsoft’s Mixer platform, effective immediately.

For a limited time, fans who sign up to the Mixer service can claim a free subscription to Ninja’s stream. It’s a smart move, obviously designed to entice others to follow Ninja away from Twitch — and it seems to be working. Less than 24 hours after Ninja’s announcement, he has more than 250,000 followers on Mixer, and the Mixer app has become the No. 1 app in the App Store.

His first official Mixer stream is set to take place later today, at noon CT, from Lollapalooza.
