Discussing the upcoming movie, the actor said:
When I was shooting anything, nobody ever told me what was part one or part two. The truth is, I don’t even know if I’m in [Avengers 4]. What I shot was in part one. And anything that I shot may or may not have been in part one or part two and I still don’t know. There were things that we shot that were never gonna’ make it because it was easier to just convolute the whole thing.
It’s true that his character technically turned into dust at the end of Infinity War, but it is generally accepted among fans that Thanos’ victims will be brought back by the end of Avengers 4.
We also know Bucky can’t be gone from the MCU for good because he’s set to star alongside Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in a new series on Disney+, the company’s upcoming streaming service.
If Bucky truly doesn’t appear in Avengers 4, that tragically means we’ve seen the last of Captain America and Bucky Barnes’ friendship on screen. Avengers 4 is set to be Chris Evans’ last appearance as Cap, which means no more “I’m with you to the end of the line.”
However, Stan previously dropped hints about his role in the upcoming Avengers film, leaving fans confused by this latest update. There’s always a chance he is intentionally misleading to keep up the mystery surrounding the movie.
We’ll only know for sure in six months, when Avengers 4 finally hits theaters.
