Imagine a world where Jennifer Aniston (and her iconic ’90s hairstyle) never played Rachel on Friends. I know, kind of hard to picture, right? But rather, Saved By The Bell actress Tiffani Thiessen played our favorite Central Perk waitress.
While promoting her new cookbook, “Pull Up a Chair,” Thiessen revealed the surprising news on comedian Nikki Glaser’s SiriusXM show, “You Up With Nikki Glaser,” earlier this week. She added, “Did you know I tested for Friends, for Jennifer Aniston?”
After Thiessen tested to play the iconic character of Rachel Green, she revealed to Glaser she didn’t get the part because she was younger than the rest of the friends.
“I was just a little too young,” the actress said. “I was a little too young to the pairing of the rest of them.”
The 44-year-old actress, currently starring in Netflix’s Alexa and Katie, was 20 years old when the sitcom first aired in 1994, compared to Aniston at the age of 25. While eventually Aniston landed the role alongside Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, Thiessen went onto star as Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Thiessen harbors no hard feelings about missing out on the role, calling Aniston’s portrayal “very, very funny.”
Other famous faces who could have become the iconic Rachel Green include Jane Krakowski, Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel, Courteney Cox, Elizabeth Berkley, and Téa Leoni.
