Star Wars fans will never let anything get in their way. Neither Storm Troopers nor the holidays could stop them from opening The Rise of Skywalker with a bang.

The final of the Star Wars trilogy brought in between $44 million to $48 million last night, according to Deadline. It will become either the third- or fourth-best preview night in history — alongside Avengers: Endgame ($60 million) and the two other films in the trilogy: The Force Awakens ($57 million) and The Last Jedi ($45 million).

The film was first shown at 5 p.m. on Thursday night in 450 select theaters. It opened up nationwide at 6 p.m. and in some theaters played well past sunrise. Its worldwide debut is expected to bring in around $250 million.

Cats and Bombshell, however, were not feeling the force when they opened the same night. They brought in about $1 million each, according to Deadline.
