It’s been nearly a year since the premier of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but fans are still discussing their issues with the newest Star Wars installment.
Director Rian Johnson apparently pays attention to—and disagrees with—the criticisms, speaking out on Twitter this weekend in response to fans complaining about how Luke Skywalker was portrayed in the movie as “just being grumpy.”
He wrote: “Hot take: Luke is in fact 100% consistent with his character (not the way he’s described in marketing blurbs, but his actual, based-on-his-words-and-actions character) from the OT. I’ll be at the bar if you need me.”

This isn’t the first time Johnson tweeted about the criticisms. Shortly after the movie’s release, he tweeted, “The goal is never to divide or make people upset, but I do think the conversations that are happening were going to have to happen at some point if [Star Wars] is going to grow, move forward, and stay vital.”
Johnson is also set to direct a new trilogy in the Star Wars universe, which is still untitled but will be produced by Last Jedi producer Ram Bergman.
