It’s time to stand up and defend your favorite shows, anime openings, and best girls in this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Crunchyroll, the popular anime-streaming giant, launched the Anime Awards in 2017. The fan-powered voting process celebrates popular anime titles from last year and commits to commemorating the best of the best.

Winners of the awards are chosen by the global Crunchyroll community alongside a committee of judges. The judges are industry experts who were hand-selected by Crunchyroll staff based on their reputation, regard, and credibility. The judges come from a range of different backgrounds, cultures, and careers, ranging from involvement in Otaku USA to Forbes.

There are several different parts to the Anime Awards, including a fan voting period that opened this morning and a live award show that will be streamed on the website on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 5 p.m. PST. Fans can vote every day until Jan. 17. Crunchyroll selected categories for the awards based on fan popularity and feedback over the past year. During the voting period, fans have the opportunity to cast their votes in categories that include Best Boy, Best Girl, Best Director, Anime of the Year, and much more. The winner of each category is the title that receives the most votes, with a 70/30 weighted split between judge votes and fan votes. In the event of a tie, judges will serve as tiebreakers.
