Join the Rebel Alliance and travel to a galaxy far, far away with the App-Enabled R2-D2 Droid from Sphero.

Not only are we #blessed with a new installment in the Star Wars collection this year, but the amount of squeal-worthy Star Wars toys that have come out in the past few months will make you GOL (geek out loud). If you have been high-key HYPED for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, you’re going to love Sphero’s latest droid inspired by the fandom.

Fans can add to their collection of previously released Star Wars App Enabled droids from Sphero and send their robotic pals on galactic missions. This starship mechanic and fighter pilot’s assistant comes with many features for kids to explore, including authentic head and body movement, as well as authentic LEDs that feature front and rear working lights. Fans can also move their little friend from bipod to tripod stances to set off signature waddles. Additionally, not only is the movement authentic, but R2 also has realistic noises that would trick any diehard fan into thinking they have the real R2-D2 in the flesh. Unlike other droids that emit sounds from within the app, this tiny robot actually makes realistic “beep boop” sounds inspired by the films.

The Star Wars Droids App by Sphero app also uses augmented reality (AR) technology to allow its users to enjoy holographic simulations. Owners can join R2 as they journey into the Star Wars galaxy, roaming the inside of spaceships and other out of this world settings. In AR mode, tap the Millennium Falcon icon in the app and hit the Calibration button, then make sure to aim R2 to face away from you. This will initiate the Millennium Falcon environment through the eyes of R2 on the smartphone or tablet, and users can move throughout the ship and turn their device to change direction.

You can also set the bot to Patrol Mode, sending R2 off to survey its surroundings autonomously. Additionally, Draw and Drive mode lets drivers tap and drag their finger anywhere in the grid area on their device, and watch as the droid follows the path that is drawn.

Lastly, in true BFF style, kids can use Watch With Me mode to play Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Star Wars: A New Hope and their droid will react with sounds and animations. A fan’s entire collection of Sphero Star Wars droids can be used at once to make them interact with each other, creating a memorable viewing experience. For the best results, make sure that the app is open and Watch With Me mode is selected, as well as keep the mobile device near the movie speakers.

With Sphero’s App Enabled R2-D2 Droid, fans will always feel like they are living in a galactic empire with their little friend by their side.
