Next year, Sony Pictures Animation will release Vivo, a new animated musical featuring 11 songs written by Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda. According to the studio, Vivo tells the tale of “a capuchin with a thirst for adventure — and a passion for music — who makes a treacherous passage from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny.”
Of course, there need to be toys for such an adventure, and Florida-based Jazwares is stepping up to the plate thanks to a new licensing deal with Sony Pictures Consumer Products.
The collection will include figures, play sets, and plush, with a line of musical instruments to be designed and marketed through Jazwares’ wholly-owned subsidiary First Act. All products are expected to hit retail next fall, just in time for Vivo‘s debut in U.S. theaters on Nov. 6, 2020.
“Finding a property as committed to the importance of music in a child’s life as we are is a special, connected experience for us. Our line will bring to life Vivo’s journey from Havana to sunny South Florida! Consumers can look forward to products that bring lush settings and vibrant characters to life incorporating music every step of the way,” says Laura Zebersky, chief commercial officer at Jazwares.
“We couldn’t imagine a better fit for Vivo than Jazwares. Their love for music and ability to create great products will allow fans to bring the magic of Vivo home,” says Jamie Stevens, EVP of Sony Pictures Consumer Products.
