Whether you’re delivering Death Star plans to the Rebellion or posting a birthday card to a friend, you’ll want to send your mail in style with the Star Wars stamps that are coming this spring!
The U.S. Postal Service and Lucasfilm are teaming up to bring fans a collection of 20 stamps that feature 10 galactic droids from the Star Wars films and animation. Designer Greg Breeding and art director William Gicker will bring the characters to stamp-sized life on envelopes and packages. Fan-favorites such as BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, IG-11, K-2SO, D-O, L3-37, a 2-1B surgical droid, a Gonk droid, and Chopper (C1-10P) will be featured on this postage collection.
Each character appears in front of a background representing that droid’s adventures. The full set comes on a background featuring a passageway from Cloud City, as seen in The Empire Strikes Back.
These stamps serve as part of Lucasfilm’s — and its parent company, Disney’s — commitment to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning. The collection also continues the collaboration between the charity program Star Wars: Force for Change and the nonprofit organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
May the force be with your mail this spring!
