As part of the ongoing 20th-anniversary celebration for their beloved video game series, Square Enix and Disney are unlocking fans’ darkness with two new Kingdom Hearts games.
Kingdom Hearts is a series of action role-playing games developed and published by Square Enix. The series follows the main protagonist Sora, a Keyblade wielder, as he travels to many Disney worlds with Donald and Goofy to stop the Heartless invasion and restore peace to the realms.
The first of the new games is the latest installment of the series, Kingdom Hearts IV, which is in early development. Featuring Sora with an updated look, the game begins a new storyline titled “Lost Master Arc” that introduces players to the large and expansive city of Quadratum. In this new arena, Sora will be accompanied by familiar companions Donald and Goofy, as the team battles against a giant new enemy.
Fans are also being treated to a new mobile game, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link. Available on iOS and Android devices, the game allows players to embark on adventures from the realm of Scala ad Caelum and into the real world.
Additionally, the highly anticipated final chapter of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road will be released in August as a free update to the Kingdom Hearts Union x Dark Road app.
Of course, what would an anniversary celebration be without merch? The official Square Enix store is offering a range of figures and accessories inspired by the franchise, including a chessboard and a light-up keyblade. Shop the full collection here!
