PropStore is gearing up for its largest film and TV memorabilia auction to date. Taking place from June 21-24, the auction will feature items from cinema’s most celebrated films, including Star Wars: A New Hope, Back to the Future, and Thor. With more than 1,800 rare relics, the PropStore Movie Memorabilia Auction promises to be every cinephile’s dream come true (and every bank account’s worst nightmare!).
The crown jewel of the event is a never-before-auctioned ILM ‘Red Leader’ X – Wing Starfighter Model miniature from the original 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope. This photo-matched, pyrotechnic X-wing has an estimated $500,000-1 million value and is the only intact, fully finished X-wing model from the film’s production that is known to exist today.
A light-up, full-size DeLorean Time Machine replica will also be up for grabs, with prices estimated to start at $150,000. The replica was used for Universal Studios promotional events in the ‘80s and ‘90s for the Back to the Future trilogy.
Whosoever holds this hammer will have the power of Thor … or Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth’s stunt Mjolnir Hammer from the 2011 film Thor will be available to bid on for an estimated price of $100,000-150,000. May the most worthy bidder win.
Though there is no Batmobile up for auction, there is a pair of Bat Boots worn by Michael Keaton in the 1989 Batman film. Designed by Nike, these basketball-style crime-fighting shoes are estimated to garner $20,000-30,000.
On the auction’s fourth day (Friday, June 24), PropStore will offer more than 200 comic book and comic artwork lots. Fans can expect to find rare, original cover art for a French edition of Batman: The Killing Joke by Brian Bolland, priced at $80,000-120,000. There will also be a copy of “The Incredible Hulk No. 181″ which was the first comic appearance of Wolverine. The estimated price is $8,000-12,000.
These are just some of the many fandom-fueled items that participants can bid on. The auction lots can be viewed virtually or by appointment, and PropStore will hold live-stream exhibitions via social media leading up to the event, giving collectors an opportunity to see items up-close and ask questions of the auction staff. Registration for the PropStore Movie Memorabilia Auction is now open at propstore.com, where you can also get additional information about the event and what’s up for grabs.
