Some folks see golf as a “boring” sport, and the standard uniform of a plain polo shirt and khakis doesn’t help. RSVLTS is setting out to change the standard golf look, infusing fun licensed apparel and golf accessories into the scene with its brand Breakfast Balls. The brand includes polo shirts from some of fans’ fave brands, including Star Wars, Happy Gilmore, and SpongeBob SquarePants, but also features golf club covers, ball markers, and caps.

RSVLTS is taking Breakfast Balls to new heights this year, with the golf lifestyle brand having its own booth at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) this year. Ben Douglass, Brand Director for Breakfast Balls, talks to The Pop Insider about making the golf course your next place to flaunt your fandom.

What is the Breakfast Balls collection?

BD

Breakfast Balls, also seen as BRKFST, is RSVLTS’ golf apparel and lifestyle brand of officially licensed, everyday activewear and accessories, which features both classic and bold designs in unique styles. As a leading apparel brand in the golf marketplace and one of the very few that creates licensed gear, Breakfast Balls is best known for its soft and stretchy All-Day Polo material. There’s a reason our tagline is “Have Another,” both in practice as a popular golf term and, frankly, because you can never have enough bold gear in your arsenal!

PI

What are some of your favorite designs in the Breakfast Balls line and why do you love them?

BD

For polos, I love our Happy Gilmore collection, because the entire set really represents our varied approach to design. It’s a mix of head-turning concepts and a few cleaner, traditional golf-style patterns that touch on the iconic characters and moments that fans love. Likewise, our Star Wars headcovers are so unique in the market. Not only have we dug deep into some beloved characters, but we also designed these in a way that allows them to break free from traditional headcover styles with some layered pieces to represent lightsabers, helmets, etc. Lastly, our Star Wars putter grips — no one is doing this right now. We realized a jumbo grip is a perfect fit for a lightsaber hilt, allowing any Sunday hacker to feel like a Skywalker over a six-footer for par.

What design elements are important to keep in mind when creating golf accessories?

BD

With headcovers, hats, and ball markers, it’s important to focus on the elements that will both grab attention right away and won’t get lost in a sea of detail.  Otherwise, in terms of our All-Day polo designs, we try to not allow ourselves to be confined by typical golf apparel standards. We strive to be different within the space and provide golfers with a style that they will stand out in on the links or even around the clubhouse or office.

PI

How does the RSVLTS team design which patterns are best for Breakfast Balls polos and shirts compared to other lines?

BD

With Breakfast Balls being the golf lifestyle arm of RSVLTS, we occasionally reimagine some fan-favorite button-down designs into polos, often with different colorways or other subtle adjustments. Breakfast Balls tends to take a bit more subdued approach than RSVLTS, although we still pride ourselves on producing bold and sometimes unconventional golf styles.

PI

What drove RSVLTS to create an entire line of golf apparel and accessories? What about golf aligns well with the RSVLTS brand?

BD

As the RSVLTS brand expanded, we noticed that our fans were wearing our signature button-downs on the golf course. This naturally led us to develop a polo that featured the same characteristics our customers have grown to love; soft, stretchy, and very breathable. The timing happened to align with the pandemic, which was a huge growth driver for the golf industry in general but also brought a younger demographic into golf and has been perfect for our bolder, out-of-the-box approach to design. We’ve improved our All-Day polos since the first launch, and add new products every year to offer something for everyone who loves the sport or just polo enthusiasts who want to wear their favorite fandom.

PI

Are there any licenses that you think would work well with Breakfast Balls that you hope to add to the collection in the future? What licenses that are already in the line do you hope to expand in the future?

BD

With RSVLTS leadership within pop culture licensed goods, the sky’s the limit. Given the popularity of anime, I could see us jumping into that space soon with some epic designs and actually would love to collaborate with other well-known golf brands and events to expand our offerings with some capsule collections. Of course, The Masters would be a dream come true, but we recently dipped our toes into the Waste Management Open and Bayhill scenes this past year, and we could really create some breakthrough officially licensed gear together. And we do have an upcoming Jurassic Park collection release that I am very excited to drop. It’s such an iconic property, I think there is so much we can continue to explore with grips and covers. Not to mention, our “Clever Girl” design, is one of RSVLTS’ all-time best sellers.

PI

Why should fans hit the green with RSVLTS gear?

BD

If you’re tired of the traditional plain blue polo and want to stand out a bit more from your crew on the course, we are the brand for you. We are all about having fun and looking good, without taking the game (or ourselves) too seriously. For too long, the game has been very uniform, so we offer golfers a breakthrough way to express themselves through their fandoms. If a bold polo isn’t for you, perhaps a more subtly branded design or maybe even a Darth Vader headcover or ball marker can still ensure you share your flare.

PI

Is there anything else fans should know about this line or upcoming RSVLTS collabs?

BD

We are super excited to release our lineup of exclusives and new polos/covers during SDCC, especially for those Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Back To The Future super fans! And we have a little something for the local residents too, with our exclusive San Diego floral colorway, it’s simply just a gorgeous polo. We have a ton of new collabs planned through 2025 as we continue to make golf gear that sets us apart from your dad’s golf brands.
