San Diego will become a battleground next month when thousands of superfans fight for elbow room at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC), and Diamond Select Toys and Gentle Giant are bringing an army of exclusives to the show. These exclusives range from mini-busts to box sets, featuring fan-favorite characters from Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and more.
The G.I. Joe Gallery Baroness (Agent of Cobra) PVC Diorama from Diamond Select Toys stands approximately 10 inches tall and features detailed sculpting and paint applications. Although she normally wears black, the Baroness put on her original blue outfit for this dynamic sculpture. Limited to only 1,500 pieces, this exclusive is available for preorder for $60.
Another Diamond Select Toys release is the Green Hornet Movie VHS Action Figure, available for preorder for $25. Limited to 2,500 pieces, this figure’s VHS clamshell-style packaging pays tribute to the 1970s movie that spliced together several episodes of The Green Hornet. This 1:10-scale action figure of Bruce Lee as Kato features more than 16 points of articulation as well as interchangeable parts and accessories.
The Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark (Sepia) 1:6-Scale Mini-Bust from Gentle Giant measures approximately 6 inches tall. With torch and whip in hand, this sepia-tinted bust is limited to only 1,000 pieces and is available for preorder for $130. Another Gentle Giant release is the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark Map Room Jumbo Playset (pictured top, right). Featuring a large Map Room diorama, a Staff of Ra, a sextant, a pouch, a grappling hook, and a pickaxe, this approximately 1:6-scale reproduction includes a 12-inch figure of Indy in his classic gear, complete with pistol and whip. Limited to 1,000 pieces, this set is available for preorder for $120.
The Marvel Comic Captain America Energy Shield 1:7-Scale Mini-Bust from Diamond Select Toys stands approximately 6 inches tall and is limited to only 500 pieces. As seen in the 2000s issues of his solo series, when his vibranium shield was shattered, Captain America wields his SHIELD-supplied energy shield in this new mini-bust, which is available for preorder for $70.
The Pacific Rim 10th-Anniversary Deluxe Action Figure Legacy Box Set is another Diamond Select Toys release. Featuring a battle-damaged version of the original Gipsy Danger and a “Shakedown Test Colors” version of Gipsy Avenger, this action figure two-pack comes in Shatterdome packaging with multiple interchangeable parts. Limited to 2,000 pieces, this box set is available to preorder for $70.
Moving into a galaxy far, far away, Gentle Giant’s Star Wars The Mandalorian Carson Teva 1:6-Scale Mini-Bust measures 6 inches tall. Carson wears his orange flight suit with a decorated helmet and levels his blaster to pick off some ice spiders. Limited to 1,000 pieces, this mini-bust of the Outer Rim pilot is available for preorder for $130.
The TMNT D-Formz Retro Pizza Box Set from Diamond Select Toys features 3-inch vinyl figurines of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in their classic red, orange, blue, and purple bandanas. Limited to 1,500 pieces, this (pizza) box set is available for preorder for $40.
Lastly, the Transformers The Movie Minimates VHS Box Set from Diamond Select Toys features new characters and packaging. The four-pack, inspired by 1986’s Transformers: The Movie, features 2-inch, fully poseable and interchangeable figures of Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Thundercracker, and Stasis Lock Optimus Prime. Limited to 1,500 pieces, the set comes packaged in a VHS-style slipcase and is available for preorder for $30.
