Marvel TV can’t catch a break, especially with the recent cancellations of Iron Fist and Luke Cage. But the cancellations may not be based on viewership and rather with the disagreements behind the scenes.
Luke Cage, starring Mike Colter, was cancelled due to creative differences and a clash on terms for a third season—not necessarily ratings or numbers—according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It’s unclear if the creative disagreements were between showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker and Marvel, or between Netflix and Marvel. But whoever it was, it seems to be irreconcilable differences.
Coker tweeted a thank you to all involved in the show, including Marvel and Netflix.
A lot memories. A lot of individual thank you calls to make. Just want to say thank you to Marvel, Netflix, the best Writer’s room, cast, crew, the Midnight Hour, all those who graced the stage at Harlem’s Paradise and the most incredible fan base in the world. Forward always…

The three Marvel shows still remaining on Netflix include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher.
