Super collector Jay Bartlett is putting together the ultimate action figure collection — in the name of charity.Â
A new docuseries titled Action Figure Adventure will chronicle Bartlett’s journey traveling from comic shop basements to convention halls in search of the rarest, coolest, and most-exciting action figures to put up for auction. All proceeds will benefit the Children’s Health Foundation. Bartlett has teamed up with friend and Emmy Award-winning director/producer Rob McCallum, director of Nintendo Quest and the He-Man documentary Power of Grayskull, to put together this 10-episode series.
The series will include interviews with some of the toy world’s biggest stars, including creative directors from Mattel, independent artists and toy designers, writers for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers franchises, and, of course, the comic book godfather himself: filmmaker Kevin Smith.
The series will air in November, but you can still support the cause on Kickstarter by contributing to the production of physical copies of the series. The team has surpassed its $1,000 campaign goal already, but stretch goals — including added bonus material and an additional episode — still need funding.
