Move over iTunes; AMC Theaters is coming for you.
The theater chain — which launched its (so far) successful movie theater subscription service, AMC Stubs A-List, little more than a year ago — decided to launch a new streaming service, which consumers can use to rent or buy movies to watch at home.
There is no subscription fee required to use the AMC Theaters On Demand service, but you do have to create a (free) AMC Stubs account to access the library and pay for movies. While the prices are pretty comparable to those on iTunes or Vudu, this service has an added bonus — users will earn AMC Stubs points from their purchases, which they can redeem at the AMC theaters for free concessions and other rewards.
The service is already live and available, with streaming capability across Apple, Android, and most other smart devices. The library is fairly extensive, too, with both newly released and classic titles to choose from. There are also sales and special promotions running at all times. Right now, they include a Halloween sale on select horror titles and three free movies when you buy one (select titles only).
