Get ready to experience Anime Expo like never before: From the comfort of home, and for free!
With this year’s Anime Expo canceled due to the spread of COVID-19, the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) is going to host “Anime Expo Lite,” a virtual event with content for anime fans around the world.
Set to take place on July 3-4, the online version of the expo will feature special guests, panel discussions, industry announcements, giveaways, and more. Some of the companies set to participate include Bushiroad, Crunchyroll, Pony Canyon, and VIZ. The best part? There is no cost to attend!
“Since 2017, AX has been live-streaming select panels as well as from the convention floor, so it is a natural transition for us to produce a virtual event,” says SPJA CEO Ray Chiang. “As everything in 2020 is different, we see a unique opportunity to be able to share our passion for Japanese pop culture not only with those that would have attended AX, but now with any anime fan no matter where they live.”
SPJA plans to announce more specific programming details in the weeks to come. If you’re interested in tuning in for this virtual experience, sign up here to get email updates.
