Mattel knows an icon when it sees one, which is why the doll company is adding Anna Sui to the Barbie universe.
In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month this May, Mattel will honor one of the world’s most cherished and accomplished fashion designers, Anna Sui, by featuring her as a doll in Barbie’s Inspiring Women Series.
Sui has significantly impacted the fashion industry, and her doll reflects her rebellious, bold, vintage, and bohemian style. She defined the ‘90s grunge aesthetic, and her doll does the same. The doll is dressed in a black, star-printed dress and chunky black boots, inspired by Sui’s 2007 collection. The doll also wears jet-black jewelry, a nod to Sui’s personal signature pieces, and sunglasses that match those from her spring 2025 collection. The doll even has a miniature version of her perfume, the Anna Sui Classic Eau de Toilette.
Barbie’s Inspiring Women Series highlights diverse women who have positively impacted society, including Dr. Jane Goodall, Ida B. Wells, and Celia Cruz. Sui is in great company, to say the least. Sui’s doll is available on Amazon at the link below for $35. For more information, visit mattel.com.
