The recent addition (OK it was in the spring but in my mind, it’s still March, so let it be) of Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA) to Netflix has sparked a fire in longtime fan’s hearts and hit new viewers like a wave. Originally on Nickelodeon from 2005-2008, the series highlights difficult subjects like war and belonging in ways that young audiences could easily digest and older viewers can’t get enough of. Those who have recently binge-watched every episode may be feeling like something is now missing in their lives. While it’s hard to compete with a classic, finding something to fill the arrow-shaped hole in your heart has just become a breeze. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power | Netflix If you haven’t caught our constant coverage of this show, we can surely say you don’t read enough of the Pop Insider, but we won’t hold it against you. The reboot of the ‘80s series is all the best parts of a retro show without any of that pesky misogyny. It features a diverse cast of voice actors whose characters develop through every episode. It’s classically funny and classically heartbreaking all at the same time.

Over The Garden Wall | Hulu If you want another show to be upset about when it ends too soon, here ya go. Christopher Lloyd and Elijah Woods are just two of the familiar voices in this 10-episode series. It follows brothers Wirt and Greg after they get lost in the woods and end up in the Unknown. The folk art-like illustration and powerful story gives fans the feeling of an adventure like no other.

Voltron: Legendary Defender | Netflix This anime-influenced series also reimagines classic characters from the ’80s. Five space pilots accidentally end up as the defenders of the universe in the series. Voltron brings fans flying robot dogs, 328-foot-tall robot warriors, and lots of breathtaking animation.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood | Netflix, HBO Max If Avatar is the first step for creating an anime fan, then Brotherhood is the essential leap. It’s a family tale like no other, as brothers Edward and Alphonse search for the Philosopher’s Stone. The pair had tried to resurrect their mother with alchemy but instead, Edward lost his limbs and Alphonse’s soul became tethered to a metal suit. The stone is their only chance to save themselves but they aren’t the only ones looking for it. The series animates modern-day issues and thrives through relatable, well-executed characters.
