Despite being released in April, Avengers: Infinity War is still killing it in the box office.
On its 48th day in theaters, Infinity War joins the cool kid club as one of four films that have made more than 2 billion dollars (not accounting for inflation) worldwide. The superhero flick takes its place among other legendary hits, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, and Avatar. While those three movies were all December releases, Infinity War is the first non-December movie to also make the cut.
Unsurprisingly, Disney films make up half of the included movies. Infinity War already hit the record for biggest opening—with 640 million dollars—and reached the billion-dollar mark in just 11 days. Marvel movies have been killing it at the box office lately, with Black Panther and Deadpool bringing oodles of cash on their own. The success of the franchise is even more impressive given that most recent movies have been released all within the same few months among other massively popular franchise releases.
What’s that saying? You can’t keep a good superhero down? OK, fine. No one says that, but they should.
