Barbie fans, take note — there’s some new must-have merch from Malibu’s most-famous resident, and you’re gonna have to find the #BarbieTruck to get it!
Continuing Mattel‘s year-long celebration of Barbie’s 60th anniversary, the Barbie Truck: Totally Throwback Tour will make its first appearance at the Barbie Collectors Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, today. It will remain in KC through Aug. 3 and then make appearances throughout California for the rest of this year, starting with a stop in Los Angeles in September.
The Barbie Truck is stocked with exclusive apparel and accessories with a retro flair, from fashionably worn denim jackets and matching “dad hats” (who came up with this term?), to an array of fanny packs, pencil cases, embroidered patches, enamel pins, and more. While much of the assortment throws it back to the mid-’80s era when Barbie and the Rockers reigned supreme, there are also plenty of design elements that pay homage to the very first Barbie dolls, along with numerous logo treatments and decade-specific nods to Barbie’s many career achievements.
If you miss the Barbie Truck in SoCal, keep an eye on the calendar! Next year, the Barbie Truck will mount a cross-country tour in an effort to bring its exclusive Barbie gear to fans nationwide. The first 16 stops have been announced at barbie.com/barbietruck.
