To celebrate 80 years of the Caped Crusader, a “Happy Birthday Batman!” panel delivered convened at WonderCon — held in Anaheim, California, over the weekend — to make a special announcement.

DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee revealed that the iconic superhero would be the first character inducted into the Character Hall of Fame at the forthcoming Comic-Con Museum in San Diego.

At the museum, the Character Hall of Fame will pay tribute to iconic, timeless characters who have shaped pop culture, with Batman leading as the first inductee. The inaugural ceremony will occur on opening night of Comic-Con International: San Diego, July 17.

To celebrate the launch of the museum and the opening of the Hall of Fame exhibit, the event will showcase displays of props and memorabilia, with special appearances by artists, actors, and creative talents who have contributed to Batman’s icon status in pop culture. Tickets for the event will be available on June 3 at ccmgathering.org.
